The fifth of the series, providing an overview of the Employees’ Provident Funds Scheme, 2026.
The Ministry of Labour and Employment had notified the Employees’ Provident Funds Scheme, 2026 (Scheme) on 29 June 2026, repealing the Employees’ Provident Funds Scheme, 1952. While the Code on Social Security, 2020 (CSS) had come into force on November 21, 2025 and had subsumed the Employees’ Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952, reliance had to be placed on the erstwhile Employees’ Provident Funds Scheme, 1952, in the absence of the finalized rules and applicable schemes.
