At Counselence, we prioritise social mobility, and are committed to use our resources and expertise to meaningfully impact our community. We are guided by the principles of equity and social justice, with primary focus on alleviating issues faced by the young at risk.

As legal practitioners, we are able to navigate policy issues and formulate solutions for immediate and long-term support for children from marginalized communities.

For this, we have joined hands with two organisations that focus on the welfare of such children, who assist in risk assessment and planning for children in need for early support.

Shanti Bhavan Children’s Project is ‘a non-profit that empowers’. It runs a residential school near Hosur, Tamil Nadu, where “it empowers children from India’s lowest socio-economic class to break the cycle of generational poverty through education, leadership, and compassion.” They go beyond basic literacy and their “students learn to be global citizens and leaders who change the world with integrity, compassion, and focus.”

We sponsor the education and holistic growth of an identified girl child at the fully residential school run by Shanti Bhavan. This will empower her to realise her true potential and foster self-agency.

BOSCO (Bangalore Oniyavara Seva Coota) is a project of the Salesians of Don Bosco serving the young at risk, including homeless children, runaway children, child labourers, abandoned/orphaned children, victims of drug abuse or child abuse, victims of child marriage, ragpickers etc. BOSCO operates in different locations like railway stations, bus stands, markets and other prominent areas for contacting and rescuing children who need care and protection. BOSCO has 9 Child Care Institutions in the city of Bangalore.

Through these centres, Bosco offers various services such as shelter, counselling, home placement, formal and non-formal education, vocational training, life skill training, talent and personality enhancement programs, healthcare, advocacy, job placement, accommodation, orientation programs, child line service, foster care, etc. BOSCO’s first priority is to restore the rescued children back home through family tracking, and counselling with support from the Child Welfare Committee.
