Biju is the founding partner of Counselence and has an experience of about 25 years advising Indian and international clients. In the in-house role, he was a legal counsel with IBM, Wipro and Ranbaxy. He was a lawyer with Norton Rose, an international law firm, and was based in London, UK. He has vast experience in advising clients on corporate transactions in India and cross-border transactions.
Biju also represents his clients as a nominee director on the boards of companies in India, UK and in the USA.
Biju graduated from the National Law School of India in 1996 and holds a masters’ degree in International Law from Raoul Wallenberg Institute in Sweden. He was also British Chevening Scholar at the College of Law, UK.
He has been professionally trained in conducting negotiations, cross-cultural mediations and has been instrumental in negotiating several complex commercial transactions as well as settling cross-border disputes through negotiations.
Padmanabhan Ananth (Paddy) is the founding partner of Counselence. He has over 30 years’ experience of being in-house counsel including at Elgi Equipment, Reliance Industries and Wipro. At Wipro he was the Vice President-Legal, where he was instrumental in instilling a culture of compliance across the globe for the company by implementing robust systems, processes and training programmes. He has extensive, multi-jurisdictional experience on statutory compliance, ethics compliance, litigation and in negotiating commercial contracts.
Paddy’s USP is providing high-quality legal advice to businesses through a deep understanding of business needs. For over five years up to August 2020, he was a partner at CounsePro. He possesses expertise and wide experience in respect of employment laws and employee relations matters and supports several MNCs and Indian corporate clients.
Paddy is a graduate in Commerce from Madras University and Law from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore.
